Kevin Morgans Walking Away Black Grouse Lyrurus tetrix. Norway. Kevin Morgans, United Kingdom. Category: Attention to Detail. COMMENDED. Photographer's Story: ‘I had endured a particularly cold night in a small canvas hide as I waited in anticipation of a unique dawn chorus. As the light started to lift, the distinctive bubbling calls of the Black Grouse started to filter through the cold, crisp air. At first the light was almost too low to work. But when it did lift I noticed this beautifully unique yet slightly abstract composition: the arched tail feathers of a male Black Grouse. It was an image that cried out for a symmetrical approach, its even tones enhanced by the reflected light bouncing off the snow-covered ground.'
