Feathers Scarlet Macaw Ara macao. Doradal, Antioquia, Colombia. Bernardo Hernández Sierra, Columbia. Category: Attention to Detail. COMMENDED. Photographer's Story: ‘This photograph was taken in the rural area of Doradal, Antioquia in June 2012. This area is characterized by its rich biodiversity, including a wide variety of birds; Columbia is after all the country with the largest number of bird species in the world. This Scarlet Macaw was in a tree and when I realised I could make a close approach: I switched from my telephoto lens to a macro lens to capture the details of its colourful feathers.’ Canon EOS 550D with Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro USM lens. 100mm focal length; 1/320 second; f/2.8; ISO 400. Handheld.
